Text Shadow Blur

txt-shad-blur

The txt-shad-blur parameter changes how txt-shad is drawn. It brings image text in line with the Video API, which has always drawn its text shadow as an offset drop shadow rather than a soft halo.

Setting txt-shad-blur switches the shadow to the video style, where:

  • txt-shad becomes a down-and-right offset in pixels, rather than a shadow strength.
  • The shadow is drawn in opaque black.
  • txt-shad-blur is the blur radius. txt-shad-blur=0 gives a hard-edged shadow, the look used for retro and poster-style type.

The value must be a whole number. Decimals such as 1.5 are ignored, and the shadow falls back to the default soft halo.

txt-shad=4 alone is a soft centered shadow
