Drop Shadow Output
drop-shadow-output
The drop-shadow-output parameter chooses whether the response contains the finished image or just the shadow. It takes full or shadow and defaults to full.
shadow returns the shadow alone on the same canvas, dropping the picture, its watermarks and its text. The result lines up pixel for pixel with the full output, which is the point: you can composite the two yourself, with the shadow on its own layer, and put something between them.
This is how you place a cut-out onto a background with its shadow falling on the background rather than on the product — fetch the shadow, draw it onto your scene, then draw the subject over it.
On JPEG output the transparent area is still filled with white, so request a format with transparency when fetching a shadow layer.
An unknown word falls back to full and is left out of the X-Imgix-Params response header. There is no mark-drop-shadow-output.
