Reflection Mode

reflection-mode

The reflection-mode parameter chooses how the reflection works out the subject’s pose. It takes manual or ai and defaults to manual, or to the mode of a cast drop shadow when one is set.

Under ai, a depth model estimates the pose from the photograph.

An explicit reflection-pose wins over ai. The model is only consulted when no pose is given, so reflection-mode=ai&reflection-pose=40 renders exactly as reflection-pose=40 alone. Leave the pose off to let the model decide.

ai adds roughly 30 ms per render and uses the dedicated AI worker. One model run serves both an ai shadow and an ai reflection, so a product shot that uses both pays the cost once.

On animations reflection-mode=ai falls back to pose 90.

An unknown word falls back to manual and is left out of the X-Imgix-Params response header. There is no mark-reflection-mode.
