Fill Image Motion
fill-image-motion
Animates the background image of an audiogram with a slow pan or zoom — the classic Ken Burns effect. A single parameter drifts the image background behind a rock-steady waveform and captions, so a still cover photo feels alive on screen.
fill-image-motion is an audiogram-only parameter. It applies to audio-source renders — either a supplied fill-image URL or an audio file’s embedded cover art — and only takes effect on animated outputs (fm=mp4, webm, gif, hls, or dash). On still outputs (jpg/png) and non-audiogram sources it is silently ignored; the render still succeeds.
The waveform, captions, and logo composite on top of the drifting background and stay perfectly still — the motion never fights the text.
Motion types
| Value | Effect |
|---|---|
none | No motion (default) |
zoomin | Slow push-in toward the focal point |
zoomout | Slow pull-out from the focal point |
panleft | Glide left across the frame |
panright | Glide right across the frame |
panup | Glide up across the frame |
pandown | Glide down across the frame |
zoominleft | Push in while drifting toward the left |
zoominright | Push in while drifting toward the right |
zoominup | Push in while drifting upward |
zoomindown | Push in while drifting downward |
zoomoutleft | Pull out while drifting toward the left |
zoomoutright | Pull out while drifting toward the right |
zoomoutup | Pull out while drifting upward |
zoomoutdown | Pull out while drifting downward |
Cover-crop vs. framed mode
fill-image-motion works with both background styles selected by fill:
fill=image(cover-crop): The image pans or zooms edge-to-edge across the full canvas. Works for a suppliedfill-imageand for an audio file’s embedded cover art.fill=bluror the default framed cover-art: The blurred backdrop and sharp card zoom together as one composite. Addfill-image-motion-pin=cardto instead pin the sharp card and drift only the blurred backdrop — a calmer, ambient look that keeps the card perfectly readable.
Only a solid color background (no image at all) has nothing to drift, so motion is ignored there.
Companion parameters
Use these parameters to tune the motion:
fill-image-motion-amount— intensity of the zoom or panfill-image-motion-align— focal point alignment (e.g.top,left)fill-image-motion-x/fill-image-motion-y— precise focal point coordinatesfill-image-motion-ease— easing curve (easeorlinear)fill-image-motion-dur— how long the motion lastsfill-image-motion-pin— pin the foreground card in framed modefill-darken— dims the background; the scrim follows the motion, so the foreground keeps popping throughout
