Multi-Asset Assembly

Activating Imgix Video

Set fm to a video output format — mp4, hls, or dash — for Imgix Video parameters to take effect.

Imgix Video can assemble an ordered list of video and image segments — intro logos, outro cards, sponsor clips, still slides — into one seamless timeline around your main video, with GPU-rendered transitions at every boundary.

Store one intro and one outro in your bucket and append them to thousands of unique videos with a query string; change the outro file once and every video updates.

Segment normalization. Every segment is coerced to the main video’s geometry, frame rate, and color space before splicing, so mismatched user-generated content never produces a corrupt seam.

Everything downstream sees the assembled timeline. Captions, watermarks, text overlays, thumbnails, spritesheets, and smart crop all operate on the assembled video. The video-clip-* family trims the main asset only, before bumpers wrap it.

Segment failure = 424. If a segment URL cannot be fetched or probed, the render fails with 424 Failed Dependency — assembly refuses to silently drop content.

Use case

Stitch multiple travel clips into a single polished reel — each trimmed to a precise duration with per-segment clip controls and blended with dissolve transitions.

Uses video-assembly[0]=main plus three additional travel segments, each trimmed to 4 s with video-assembly-clip-end[N]=4. A global video-assembly-transition=dissolve blends all three seams — producing a 16 s cinematic travel reel from four separate source clips.
