Fade Left
fade-left
The fade-left parameter fades the picture’s left edge to transparent, overriding fade for that side alone.
A whole number is pixels, multiplied by dpr. A decimal from 0 to 1 is a fraction of that side’s axis.
Fading one edge is the common case: a hero image that dissolves into the section below it needs fade-bottom only, and fading all four would soften edges that are flush against the viewport.
Like fade, the faded area is only transparent on a format that carries alpha — on JPEG it blends into bg. A negative or non-numeric value is ignored.
