Video Stabilization

Activating Imgix Video

Set fm to a video output format — mp4, hls, or dash — for Imgix Video parameters to take effect.

Imgix Video can remove camera shake from handheld, drone, and action-camera footage straight from a URL parameter. A hardware optical-flow pre-pass measures the camera’s true trajectory, smooths it, and a GPU warp cancels the difference per frame — so the output glides where the source jittered.

Use video-stabilize to enable stabilization and set the correction strength. Use video-stabilize-zoom to control how the crop-in that hides correction borders is handled.

Stabilization is a two-pass process: the clip is first analyzed using NVIDIA hardware optical flow, then each frame is warped on the GPU — no CPU round-trip. Short clips render inline; long clips route through the async render queue (423, then served from cache) exactly like any other long render.
