Waveform Samples

video-wave-samples

Controls the number of audio samples aggregated per column in the waveform visualization.

video-wave-samples accepts an integer between 1 and 64. The default is 4. Higher values aggregate more samples per pixel column, smoothing the waveform and reducing noise in the visualization. Lower values preserve more detail but may appear noisier for compressed audio.

This parameter only applies to animated video outputs (fm=mp4, fm=gif, etc.). It is ignored when generating a static image waveform (fm=jpg, fm=png, etc.).

ValueEffect
1Maximum detail, no aggregation
8Balanced detail and smoothness
64Maximum smoothing

This parameter works well in combination with video-wave-filter for further smoothing of the visualization.

See the Audio Waveforms overview for the full set of waveform parameters.
