Activating Imgix Video
Set fm to a video output format — mp4, hls, or dash — for Imgix Video parameters to take effect.
Imgix Video can apply produced, cinematic effects to a video in real time, on the GPU, straight from the URL — a vignette, analog film grain, a dreamy bloom, 35mm-style halation, or a chromatic-aberration channel split. Each is a single intensity dial from 0 (off) to 100, and they stack with each other and with the color grade.
Compose order. When several effects are active they apply in a fixed, deterministic order: chromatic aberration → film grain → bloom → halation → vignette. VFX run after the color grade (video-filter, video-lut, etc.) and before overlays (watermarks, PiP, captions), so logos and captions stay crisp above the effects.
VFX apply to every visual output: MP4/WebM, HLS/DASH, animated GIF, thumbnails, spritesheets, and the preview reel. They are a no-op on audio-only output and fm=json.
Add a soft vignette to any video to pull the viewer's eye toward the center of the frame — a standard finishing touch for editorial, travel, and documentary footage.
