Processing Time
Video Preview is a time intensive process. First time requests will return 423 for a few minutes until the video is fully processed. Either poll the URL until you receive a video response or check again after a few minutes to see the generated preview.
The video-preview parameter triggers the generation of an AI-generated video preview. When enabled, the AI analyzes your video content and automatically extracts key segments to create a compelling shorter preview video.
This parameter works in conjunction with video-preview-duration and video-preview-segment-duration to control the final preview’s length and the minimum duration of extracted segments.
How It Works
When video-preview is set to true, Imgix Video will intelligently select representative segments from throughout your original video and compile them into a cohesive preview. This is particularly useful for:
- Creating engaging previews for long-form content
- Generating quick highlights for social media
- Providing viewers with a snapshot of video content before they commit to watching the full version
